Counter Unmanned Aircraft Systems (C-UAS)

The growing misuse of unmanned aircraft systems presents real and evolving risks to public safety, critical infrastructure, and national security. The National Transportation Safety Organization (NTSO) strongly supports empowering state, county, and local agencies with the tools they need to detect, track, and mitigate unauthorized or dangerous drone activity. We advocate for expanded access to Counter Unmanned Aircraft Systems (C-UAS) technologies, along with clear policies that enable responsible and lawful use at the local level. NTSO’s CEO has engaged directly with federal partners, including meetings with members of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, including the Deputy Director, the Federal Air Marshal Service, and federal elected officials to advance these efforts. Equally important, NTSO works to educate public safety agencies on emerging C-UAS capabilities, operational considerations, and available funding opportunities, including federal grants. By advancing awareness, access, and coordination, we are helping communities better prepare for and respond to drone related threats while maintaining a safe and secure airspace.
