Welcome - We are driving toward a new website!

Established in 1967 by over 200 government and business leaders, the National Transportation Safety Organization (NTSO)—formerly the Transportation Improvement Association (TIA)—is a globally recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to advancing transportation safety. NTSO addresses all modes of transportation, with a primary focus on road and aviation. Our mission is to identify safety issues that affect our communities and develop practical solutions to save lives, reduce injuries, and enhance mobility.

NTSO’s innovative work has earned both national and international recognition. In 2008, it was named one of the “Top 50 Programs of the 2008 Innovations in American Government” by the Ash Center at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government. A 2006 Federal Highway Administration report highlighted NTSO and the Road Commission for Oakland County as a national best practice in intersection safety strategies.
